Nanded RTO at a glance
Nanded keeps things to a single office. One Regional Transport Office (RTO), in the MIDC area of CIDCO, registers cars from all 16 talukas under MH-26, and no second office in the district has a code of its own.
Nanded RTO key facts
How to read a Nanded (MH-26) number plate
An MH-26 plate, MH 26 AB 1234 for instance, splits into four parts. MH is the code for Maharashtra and 26 is the Nanded RTO, then AB gives the letter series, and 1234 is the four-digit number unique to the car within that series.

Worth knowing: With one office for the whole district, a Kinwat car and a Nanded city car both carry MH-26. That code stays put if the owner later moves to Pune or Nagpur, and it changes only if the car is re-registered outside Maharashtra or its registration details are changed.
HSRP number plates in Nanded
Any MH-26 car first registered on or after 1 April 2019 already has its High Security Registration Plate (HSRP), fitted by the dealer, and the transport department does not ask its owner to reapply.
Owners of older MH-26 cars book the installation on the booking portal named on the Maharashtra transport department website, and the date that applies to them is shown there too. There is no extra fitment charge at a centre, while home fitment is charged extra. For deadlines and plate types, see our Maharashtra RTO guide.
Nanded RTO code list
One district code, the two codes run from Nanded and the codes next door
Nanded district has a single code, MH-26. The Nanded office also runs the Deputy RTOs for Parbhani and Hingoli, so it is the parent office for three districts, but only Nanded addresses get MH-26.
Hingoli split from Parbhani district on 1 May 1999, and its Deputy RTO, coded MH-38, now sits alongside Parbhani’s MH-22 under the Nanded office.

The MH-26 office in CIDCO and what it handles
Every Nanded task, from a new registration to a licence test or an address change, goes to the one office at P-149 in the MIDC area of CIDCO. The transport department lists both its address and its pincode, 431603.
Nanded RTO office, MH-26
As a full Regional Transport Office, Nanded oversees the Parbhani and Hingoli Deputy RTOs and runs two border check posts, at Degloor and Billoli, on the Telangana border.
Worth knowing: Owners from Kinwat, Mahur or Deglur make the same trip to CIDCO as city owners. Book a driving test slot on Sarathi, and check the visit with the office, before you travel in from a far taluka.

Which RTO covers your area in Nanded
Nanded makes this easy. Any address in the district’s 16 talukas is registered at MH-26, and only an address over a district border points you to another office.
Nanded talukas and nearby districts by RTO code
Enter a number such as MH26AB1234 in the finder at the top of the page and it confirms the registering office, which is where the car’s record is kept.
Worth knowing: Moving from Hadgaon to Nanded city, or out to Pune, leaves the MH-26 number as it is. The RC needs the new address, and your insurer needs to hear about it too, so inform your insurer once the RC is updated.
RTOs near Nanded
Inside Maharashtra, Nanded district borders Yavatmal, Latur, Parbhani and Hingoli. Across the state line it meets Adilabad, Nirmal, Nizamabad and Kamareddy districts of Telangana and Bidar in Karnataka, and cars from there carry their own state codes.

Road tax in Nanded
Paid once, at the Maharashtra rate, when the MH-26 number is issued
Road tax is a state matter, so Nanded owners pay what owners elsewhere in Maharashtra pay. An MH-26 car pays the Maharashtra one-time tax at first registration, at a percentage that rises with the price band and differs for petrol, diesel and gas.
Maharashtra rates for a car in an individual’s name
For example: For a ₹6 lakh petrol car registered in an individual’s name at MH-26, the tax works out at 11%, or ₹66,000. On top comes a road safety cess on the tax, which is reported as 2%; confirm what you owe on Vahan.
Company owners
Register a petrol or diesel car to a business and the rate is a flat 20%
Battery cars
The state’s electric vehicle (EV) policy removes road tax for EVs registered from 1 April 2025 until 31 March 2030
Rates since 2025
An amendment reported in force from 1 July 2025 added 1% for CNG and LPG and lifted the maximum tax from ₹20 lakhs to ₹30 lakhs
Telangana or other plates
A car re-registered here from another state is taxed by age; Vahan gives the amount, and our Maharashtra RTO guide has the rules
RTO fees and charges in Nanded
An owner in Nanded pays the same RTO fees as one registering at Parbhani or Latur, as the amounts come from national rules. On Vahan you pay them yourself, while the dealer handles them as part of a new car’s price.
RTO fees for a private car and bike in Nanded
For example: On a new car bought with a loan, the MH-26 office collects ₹2,300, which is ₹600 for the registration, ₹200 for a smart card RC and ₹1,500 for the hypothecation entry. Road tax is charged separately.
At 15 years an MH-26 car’s registration must be renewed for ₹5,000, rising to ₹10,000 beyond 20 years, and a late renewal runs up ₹500 a month for a car (₹300 for a motorcycle).
The HSRP, state service charges and the Maharashtra road tax are not included in these amounts.
Registering a new car in Nanded
One office, so every new car in the district gets an MH-26 number
Buying a new car in Nanded is straightforward on the RTO side. The dealer applies on Vahan, the CIDCO office approves it, and the car gets MH-26 whether the buyer lives in Bhokar, Loha or the city.
- 1
Cover the car
A valid policy has to be in place first, from an insurer you choose yourself
- 2
Documents to the dealer
Address proof goes on the Vahan application, which reaches the Nanded office
- 3
Tax in the invoice
The on-road price includes the road tax and the RTO fee as separate items
- 4
MH-26 number issued
The CIDCO office approves the application and assigns the number
- 5
Plate and RC
Once the High Security Registration Plate is on, the RC comes from Nanded
No code choice
All 16 talukas share one office, so every new car is MH-26
Insurance checked
The policy is needed before approval, priced at Zone B rates
Bikes and scooters
Two-wheelers bought in the district are registered at the same office
Transferring car ownership in Nanded
Ownership of an MH-26 car is transferred by the Nanded office through Vahan. The seller completes Form 29, seller and buyer put their names to Form 30, and the office charges ₹300 for a car or ₹150 for a motorcycle.
A buyer in Nanded should then shift the insurance into their name within 14 days.
Removing a loan (hypothecation) from the RC in Nanded
With the loan cleared, submit Form 35 and the lender’s No Objection Certificate (NOC) on Vahan to have the hypothecation deleted, which costs nothing. The paperwork is set down on our Maharashtra RTO guide.
Nanded RTO services online
A good part of Nanded RTO work never needs the drive to CIDCO. The Vahan portal takes vehicle applications and the Sarathi portal takes licence ones, and in Maharashtra the learner licence test itself is online with Aadhaar authentication.
Duplicate RC and RC status check in Nanded
To replace a lost or spoilt RC, apply on Form 26 to the Nanded office and pay the duplicate fee in the fees table. The Kiwi Insurance RC status check brings up the status of an MH-26 registration.
Driving licence services in Nanded
Apply for a licence on Sarathi and then take the driving test at the CIDCO office. What else can be done online is covered on our Maharashtra RTO guide.
Traffic fines and e-challan in Nanded
Look up any challan against an MH-26 number on echallan.parivahan.gov.in or through mParivahan, where the amount for each offence is shown and can be paid.

Moving your car to Nanded
A Maharashtra car needs a new address, a car from elsewhere a new number
Nanded borders Telangana, so a car moving in may well carry a TS or TG plate. After more than 12 months in Maharashtra such a car must be re-registered with an MH-26 number, while a car from Pune or Latur simply keeps its MH number.
Moving to Nanded: Steps for each kind of car

Insurer updated
Inform your insurer of the MH-26 number on the new RC
Owners leaving Maharashtra for Telangana or anywhere else take the same route the other way. Get the NOC on Form 28 from the Nanded office first, then register the car in the new state.
Worth knowing: Each time the number or address on the RC changes, inform your insurer so the policy matches. Our Maharashtra RTO guide explains every form.
BH series registration in Nanded
With a transferable job, ask the Nanded dealer for a Bharat series (BH) number rather than MH-26. Take it to a new posting in Hyderabad or Bengaluru later, and it needs neither a No Objection Certificate (NOC) nor a fresh registration in that state.
Private sector staff need Form 60, which an employer with offices in 4 or more states or union territories can sign. The format is YY BH #### XX, where YY is the year of first registration, the four digits are allotted at random, and XX represents the alphabetic series, which can be a single letter or two letters. It is black on a white plate, like any other private car.
The 2-year tax is set down on our Maharashtra RTO guide.

Car insurance in Nanded
Insurers price Own Damage cover by the zone of the RTO that registered the car, and MH-26 is in Zone B, the lower-priced zone. Hyderabad, in neighbouring Telangana, is a Zone A city, as are Mumbai and Pune, while Third-Party cover costs the same across India.

Zone B for MH-26
Zone B applies to every car registered in Nanded, so Own Damage usually costs less than for a car registered in Hyderabad or Pune

Third-Party set nationally
One national schedule by engine size fixes the Third-Party price, so plans compete on Own Damage and optional covers

A Hyderabad car in Nanded
Until it is re-registered as MH-26, a car from Hyderabad keeps the Zone A rating of the office that registered it
