The Central Zone office is at Somajiguda, not in Khairatabad, and this page gives its address, hours and cut-off times, the areas on its list and the papers to bring to use RTO services.

Khairatabad RTO is the Central Zone office of Hyderabad, code TG-09, and it works out of Somajiguda rather than Khairatabad. Cars whose RC shows an address in Ameerpet, Banjara Hills, Nampally or the other areas on its list are handled here.
On a plate like TG 09 AB 1234, the first pair of letters names the state, Telangana, and 09 tells you the car was registered at the Khairatabad office. The letters AB mark the series, and 1234 is the four-digit number.

Worth knowing: Plates issued here before the 2024 change carry TS 09, and reports say those numbers stay as they are. An owner who later moves from Punjagutta to Kukatpally keeps the 09 too, as the code changes only if the car is re-registered outside Telangana or its registration details are changed.
A TG-09 car bought new on or after 1 April 2019 already wears a High Security Registration Plate (HSRP), put on by the maker and dealer. An older car on the Khairatabad list still needs one installed.
Plates are booked online. Use the booking portal named on the Telangana transport department website, which also gives the date for your car. Anything else about TG-09 plates, such as the stickers, is covered on our Telangana RTO guide.
TG-09 first, then the Hyderabad codes that get mistaken for it
Khairatabad uses a single code, TG-09, which replaced TS-09 for new registrations under central notification S.O. 1306(E) of 12 March 2024. The other four Hyderabad zones each have their own number, so a car from Secunderabad or Tolichowki is not a Khairatabad car.
Where the office really is, when to arrive, what it handles and what to bring
Do not head for Khairatabad itself. The Central Zone office carries the Khairatabad name, but the Citizens’ Charter puts it at Somajiguda, opposite the Eenadu office, Hyderabad 500082.
These times come from a charter written in 2017, so check before you go. Hand in applications before the 2:00 pm cut-off, and note that the charter keeps number reservation to the morning, from 10:30 am to 1:00 pm.
Put a new address on a TG-09 RC, or replace a lost or damaged one
Move a TG-09 car into a buyer’s name, or add or remove a loan on its RC
Apply for the No Objection Certificate (NOC) on Form 28 before a TG-09 car leaves Telangana
Renew the registration once a car on this office’s list turns 15

The charter lists the areas below for the Central Zone, though its table is laid out unevenly, so read them as a guide and match your RC address to them.
Worth knowing: Shaikpet and Jubilee Hills are on the Khairatabad list, yet Tolichowki and Mehdipatnam next door are West Zone, and Madhapur and Gachibowli belong to Rangareddy. Go by the list, not by how close an office feels.
The four other Hyderabad zone offices handle their own area lists, and the Nagole track takes the driving tests for the city. Pick the card for the office named on your RC.

The Khairatabad office collects the Telangana life tax, once per car
The office has no tax rate of its own and simply collects the Telangana life tax once, when a TG-09 car is first registered. The bands below depend on the car’s price and on whether an individual, a company or a second-car owner registers it.
Since 1 March 2026 a new car also pays a single ₹5,000 road safety cess. The second-vehicle rate follows the order’s own words, “second or more personalised vehicles”; a change to it was reported in February 2026, but no order was found, so check on Vahan before you pay. Scooters and motorcycles have their own bands, set out on our Telangana RTO guide.
Somajiguda charges the national RTO fees, the same as every other office in the state. They are paid through the Vahan portal, and for a new car they are part of what the dealer collects.
For example: Register a new financed car at Khairatabad and the RTO side of the bill is ₹2,300, which is the ₹600 registration, the ₹200 smart card RC and ₹1,500 for the hypothecation, with life tax on top.
For a Punjagutta car turning 15, the renewal is ₹5,000, and ₹10,000 beyond 20 years. Each month it runs late costs a further ₹500, or ₹300 for a motorcycle.
Plates, life tax, the road safety cess and other state service charges are billed separately from these fees.
The dealer files it, and an address on this office’s list brings it to Khairatabad If your home is in Ameerpet, Banjara Hills or another area on this office’s list, a new car will be registered by the Khairatabad office and get a TG-09 number, whichever showroom you buy from.
Arrange the insurance yourself or through the dealer; registration cannot go ahead without it
The showroom issues the temporary registration on Vahan, which lasts up to one month
The permanent application must be made within 7 days of delivery, with Form 20
Khairatabad approves it, a TG-09 number is issued and the HSRP goes on the car
Reports say a January 2026 order lets authorised dealers finish the registration without the buyer visiting Somajiguda
The RC card is reported to come by speed post, so the address you give must be one where you collect mail
Life tax, the cess and the RTO fee are inside the on-road price, so the dealer collects them before delivery
Sell a car with TG-09 or TS-09 on its RC and the transfer belongs to Khairatabad, even if the buyer lives in Uppal. Apply on Vahan with Form 29 from the seller and Form 30 signed by both, and pay ₹300 for a car or ₹150 for a motorcycle.
Within 14 days of the change, the new owner should have the policy transferred as well.
When the loan is cleared, file Form 35 with the lender’s No Objection Certificate (NOC) for the TG-09 RC. No RTO fee applies, though a state service charge may. For the paperwork behind each Khairatabad step, open our Telangana RTO guide.
Since 23 March 2026, work on a TG-09 vehicle starts on the Vahan portal, while learner and driving licences go through the Sarathi portal. Khairatabad then picks up whatever needs checking in person.
Apply for a duplicate of a lost TG-09 RC on Form 26, with the fee from the fees table. To see what an RC shows, use the Kiwi Insurance RC status check.
Licence applications go on Sarathi, and the test itself is at Nagole, not Somajiguda. Every Hyderabad office is described on our Hyderabad RTO guide.
Challans are paid online. Enter the TG-09 or TS-09 registration on echallan.parivahan.gov.in, or open mParivahan, to see what is due and settle it there.
The rest are on our Telangana RTO guide.
Arriving in the Central Zone, or leaving Telangana with a TG-09 car
Moving into Ameerpet or Banjara Hills from elsewhere in Telangana, keep your number and update the RC address. From another state, the car must be re-registered here with a TG-09 number once it has stayed in Telangana beyond 12 months.
Ask the office that issued the current RC for a No Objection Certificate on Form 28
Past 12 months in Telangana, apply to this office with the NOC and your Central Zone address
Telangana works the tax out on the car’s cost at a rate that falls as the car gets older
If you are leaving Telangana, apply for the NOC on Form 28 to Khairatabad online, with a slot booking, and bring the RC, the policy, the tax paid proof, a PUC certificate and a police verification certificate. Inform your insurer once the new number is issued, and see our Telangana RTO guide for the details.
Living in the Central Zone but often transferred between states? Ask the dealer to apply for a Bharat series (BH) number for you in place of TG-09, and the car needs no NOC when you move on.
Staff of a private firm with offices in 4 or more states or union territories add Form 60 from the employer. The format is YY BH #### XX, where YY is the year of first registration, the four digits are allotted at random, and XX represents the alphabetic series, which can be a single letter or two letters. It is black on a white plate, like any other private car.
Eligibility and the BH tax are on our Telangana RTO guide.

Your premium follows the office that registered the car, and Khairatabad is a Hyderabad office in Zone A. A TG-09 car therefore pays the higher Zone A rate for Own Damage, while Third-Party cover costs the same national price.
Zone A applies to every car this office registers, wherever the owner lives later
A policy that names a TS-09 car stays correct as long as the RC still reads TS-09
The Third-Party part is a national price by engine size, so compare the Own Damage cover and optional covers
Once Khairatabad moves the RC, the buyer has 14 days to move the policy too
Khairatabad will not register a car without valid cover. When it records a new owner, address or number, inform your insurer so the policy and the TG-09 RC say the same thing.
Third-Party cover is required by law for every TG-09 car and bike before Khairatabad registers it Finished with the Khairatabad office? The two cards open the Kiwi Insurance car and bike plans.
