Malakpet RTO TG-11: Hyderabad East office and hours

In TG 11 AB 1234, the letters TG point to Telangana and the number 11 to the East Zone office at Malakpet. After them come the series, AB, and 1234, the four-digit number.

Worth knowing: Dilsukhnagar cars from before the 2024 change carry TS 11, which news reports say need not be replaced. The 11 also stays put through a move to Kondapur or Kukatpally on the other side of the metro, as the code changes only if the car is re-registered outside Telangana or its registration details are changed.

The maker and dealer fit the High Security Registration Plate (HSRP) on any TG-11 car sold new from 1 April 2019. A Saidabad or Yakutpura car registered before that date still needs one installed.

The East Zone office is not where the plate is ordered. Book it through the portal named on the Telangana transport department website, check the date given there for your car, and find the sticker rules on our Telangana RTO guide.

Malakpet holds TG-11, and it held TS-11 until central notification S.O. 1306(E) of 12 March 2024 switched new registrations in Telangana to TG. On the east side of the city, the codes most often mixed up with it are TG-08, listed for the Uppal office, and the Rangareddy code TG-07.

Look for Prashanth Nagar Colony on Moosarambagh Road, Hyderabad 500036, which is the address the Citizens’ Charter gives for the East Zone office. Searches for Hyderabad East RTO or TS 11 RTO lead to the same place.

Hand in an application by 2:00 pm or it waits for another day. These timings were set in a charter prepared in 2017, so check before you go.

What the Malakpet RTO does not handle

No driving tests are held at Moosarambagh Road. East Zone applicants book on Sarathi and are tested at the Nagole track. For a brand-new car, the dealer begins the registration on Vahan.

The charter gives the East Zone the localities in the first table. If your RC address is in one of them, Malakpet is your office.

The charter’s row for this zone also seems to carry a couple of names from other zones, so only the clearly East Zone ones are shown. When in doubt, the office named on your RC is the one to follow.

Worth knowing: Saroornagar and Hayathnagar are on the Rangareddy DTO’s list, not the East Zone’s, so their cars go to Upparpally. Amberpet, for its part, is a North Zone area handled at Tirumalagherry.

Life tax on a TG-11 car is the Telangana rate, collected by Malakpet once, when the car is first registered. Which band applies depends on the price, and on whether the buyer is an individual, a company or someone adding a second vehicle.

A new car also carries a ₹5,000 road safety cess, charged once and in force since 1 March 2026. Reports in February 2026 said the second-vehicle surcharge would be dropped, but the order still lists it, so check the amount on Vahan. An East Zone owner pays the same national fees as an owner registered at Uppal or anywhere else. Payment is made on the Vahan portal, and a dealer selling a new car adds the fees to the bill.

For example: A buyer from Dilsukhnagar who takes a car loan pays ₹2,300 to the RTO in all, made up of registration at ₹600, the smart card at ₹200 and ₹1,500 to record the hypothecation. The life tax is a separate amount.

Renewing a Saidabad car at 15 years costs ₹5,000, rising to ₹10,000 after 20 years, and each month’s delay adds ₹500 for a car or ₹300 for a motorcycle.

None of these amounts includes the number plate, the life tax, the cess or other state service charges.

Malakpet transfers any car whose RC shows TG-11 or TS-11, even when the buyer lives in Secunderabad or Kukatpally. The papers are Form 29 from the seller and Form 30 from both parties, filed on Vahan, with a fee of ₹300 for a car and ₹150 for a motorcycle.

Insurance moves too, and the buyer should get the policy into their name inside 14 days.

Removing a loan (hypothecation) at Malakpet RTO

With the loan paid off, the hypothecation is removed by filing Form 35 and the bank’s No Objection Certificate (NOC) for the TG-11 RC. No RTO fee is charged, but a state service charge may be. The full paperwork is on our Telangana RTO guide.

Since 23 March 2026, East Zone vehicle services start on the Vahan portal, and licence applications go through the Sarathi portal. Malakpet steps in only where an original document or the car has to be seen.

Duplicate RC and RC status check for Malakpet

File Form 26 for a duplicate TG-11 RC and pay as shown in the fees table. Before buying a used East Zone car, look it up on the Kiwi Insurance RC status check.

Driving licence services for Malakpet

Challans on a TG-11 car are settled online, not at Moosarambagh Road. Enter the number on echallan.parivahan.gov.in or in the mParivahan app to view and pay them.

A car arriving in Dilsukhnagar or Malakpet from elsewhere in Telangana keeps its number, and the owner only updates the RC address. One from another state is re-registered here with TG-11 after more than 12 months in Telangana.

Going the other way, out of Telangana, you need an NOC from Malakpet on Form 28, applied for online with a slot booking and backed by the RC, policy, tax-paid proof, PUC certificate and police verification certificate. An East Zone buyer who changes states for work can ask the dealer for a Bharat series (BH) number instead of a TG-11 one. With BH plates, a later move to another state needs no NOC.

If you work for a private company, it must have offices in 4 or more states or union territories, and you hand in Form 60 from your employer. The format is YY BH #### XX, where YY is the year of first registration, the four digits are allotted at random, and XX represents the alphabetic series, which can be a single letter or two letters. It is black on a white plate, like any other private car.

Vahan and Sarathi now take most of these online. A paper copy is useful only if Malakpet asks you for one.

How insurance links to the Malakpet RTO

Without valid insurance, Malakpet does not register a car. Whenever the TG-11 RC is changed for a new owner, address or number, inform your insurer so both documents agree.
